IETE Students Forum

Introduction
The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), founded in 1953, is one of the leading Professional Societies in India. IETE, has been contributing to the advancement of Science and Technology in the fields of Electronics, Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology and other related subjects. The major focus of IETE is to provide technical/engineering education i.e. Degree and Diploma level certifications to younger generation . IETE has got two streams of Student base. First wing is the students passing out DIPIETE , AMIETE and ALCCS.For them an Alumni Association was formed in 2013.The Second wing pertains to Engineering students studying in Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics across the Country. This wing is the ISF ( IETE Students Forum ). More than 550  ISFs are functioning in India today with a student membership of more than 60,000.

 

Objectives of ISF :

  1. Improving standard of Engineering Education
  2. Counseling the students in the emerging new opportunities
  3. Encouraging and motivating the outside Class room studies /Work shops/projects/Seminars
  4. Increasing the student base and Corporate membership of IETE

 

Activities :

  1. To plan, organize Technical Programs, Special Lectures, Workshops, Seminars Symposia, exhibitions for the benefit of students.
  2. To provide common platform for students to exchange of ideas in technical topics of interest, e.g., curriculum, employment, higher educational opportunities, emerging trends, etc.
  3. To facilitate technical visits, project works, employment, contact with industries and academic institutions.
  4. Encourage team spirit and self reliance among student members.
  5. ISFs should be a catalyst for the overall growth in technical and professional skills in young students.

ISTE -SRM UNIVERSITY SHORT TERM TRAINING PROGRAMME IN TRIDENT ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY

 

The field of Active and Smart Materials has received great attention in the last 15 years, due to an increasing awareness of materials capabilities, the development of new materials and transducer design and increasingly stringent design and control specifications in aerospace, aeronautics, industrial, automotive, biomedical and nano systems. Equally important for the advancement of the field is the development of models, numerical approximation techniques and control design which accommodate the hysteresis and constitutive non linearities inherent to the material. The objective of this training programme was to bring together researchers working in this new and exciting area of Active/Smart materials. The programme was meant for discovering the prospects and potential applications of smart materials technology in the market place.

 

Indian Society for Technical Education and SRM University sponsored short term training programme for faculty on Recent Advances in Smart Materials was inaugurated in Trident Academy of Technology. Prof J K Joshi Director of the institute introduced the guests and gave the welcome address. Guest of Honour Dr. B. K. Shatpathy, General Manager(R & D) NALCO emphasised upon different applications of smart materials. Chief Guest Dr. Sandeep Tripathi, Director of Institute of Materials Science threw light on use of several materials and also advised researchers to comeforward in this exciting field. Coordinator of the programme Dr. M. R. Senapati proposed vote of Thanks. The programme continued for six days and eminent professors and scientists from IITs, IMMT, NISER, Institute of Physics and many other universities delivered their talk on this important area.

 

In the valedictory session Chief Guest Smt. Smitarani Panigrahi Chairperson of Trident Group of Institutions distributed the certificates to the participants.

Trident Academy of Engineering & Technology has established an IEEE Student Branch at its campus with a formal approval from IEEE on 25.04.2023. The main motto behind establishing the Student Branch at Trident is to provide a platform to the students where they can interact with their peer group from around the section and also with the professional members from around the globe. Several activities that would help the students in fostering their core knowledge and at the same time nurture their leadership and managerial skills are being planned as part of the academic year. A significant number of student members have garnered recognition for the Institute by their participation in events such as presenting papers in IEEE seminars, competing in project competitions, excelling in national level hackathons, and achieving outstanding placements.
